Here are the search engines we will use to help us research our informational writing topics.  You may find that one site works for your topic better than another.  Remember to jot down fact ideas.  Be careful not to copy exactly what another author wrote.  Use your own words!

Narrative Celebration

Deep Thinking Readers

We are working on digging deep with our characters.  We are stopping and jotting about patterns we see in their behavior to try and build theories about them using evidence.  We are also working on lifting the level of our thinking on our stop and jots.  Check out our thinking rubric!

Addition

We have been working with 'collection cards' in Math Workshop. Each 'collection card' has a quantity that matches the amount in the collection.  These quantities have helped guide our practice with addition.  Check out some of the strategy work that went on in our workshop today while we were comparing collections.  These pictures showcase the many ways to solve one problem.  We have some brilliant thinkers in our class!

Come by and check out our new standards based bulletin board.  We change these quarterly to update and showcase the work that is going on in our classroom.  This particular board is based around our notebooks.  We use notebooks for all of our workshops and we do believe they are great and powerful!
